Great Success Skills Come From Planning Your Future
By Rob Mead

“Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go.”- William Feather (1889-1981)

WHAT DIRECTION IS YOUR LIFE GOING IN?

There is not a successful person in the history of man that has not had a clearly defined plan either in his head or on paper when they started achieving their financial goals. If you don t currently have a plan that consists of knowing what actions you need to take on a daily basis, you are essentially adrift in an ocean of indecision.

Success skills depend on following a strict guideline that is clearly defined by you on paper so that you will know the exact direction you are currently headed toward in reaching your personal or financial dreams. A great plan will even clarify who should be helping you along the way as well.

For example, if you have a relative that is in the publishing world and you need a referral from someone in that field, who would be the best person available to give you that referral? When you write down that exact need on a piece of paper, you are illuminating that person s name in bright neon colors where you might not have been able to come to that conclusion before.

FAILURE TO USE YOUR SUCCESS SKILLS WILL GET YOU NOWHERE FAST

A great many people in the world today will never achieve their life goals because of an abject fear of failure. It s very easy to not even try to gain financial independence from a job you hate, for example, because the common person will just think that all jobs are horrible and they might as well take the easy way out and just stick to the lousy job they have now. Instead of trying to become a self-made millionaire which was their main goal in life for many years, their fear of abject failure will keep them in that horrible job for years and years to come.

When you start to write down a specific plan for your goals, you are actually committing yourself to action, something that a lot of people are too lazy or too afraid of doing for themselves. This kind of bad attitude in life will only lead to a boring and dull existence that will culminate in a person having to go bankrupt because they over-spent on luxury items that they had to charge on their credit cards as a result of keeping a low-paying job out of a fear of failure.

Don t let this fear mentality take control of your life. Start writing down a specific plan for your future that will identify all of the potential problems that are sure to rise up once you begin this exciting life journey. The plan will also make it perfectly clear as to what you need to change today to bring you certain success in life. It will even show you that you need to move to another state if that is what it takes to get your financial budget under control.

EVALUATE WHAT YOUR SUCCESS SKILLS ARE

You need to start thinking about what your greatest assets are when you first start writing down your life s plan. This will ensure that you are bringing everything to the table as far as where your greatest strengths lie. For example, if you have great writing skills, make that your #1 asset and formulate the best way to use that skill to get a second income generated as soon as possible.

You can then set your exact time frame on when you need this second income to start exceeding the income you are currently receiving at your dead-end job. You will also have to start listing other strengths that you might have and then you can begin thinking of pragmatic ways of making money using those success skills over other ones that might not be so lucrative.

When you start prioritizing key actions that will get you to your goals in a quick fashion, you will be well on your way in achieving your desires.

Grief Unique to Each, Common to All
By Tammy Stoner

I thought I was well trained in grief. After all, I lost a husband at age 35 suddenly and unexpectedly, while holding him in my arms. No reason, no explanation, and no time to say goodbye. I thought I was well versed in the subject of grief as I lectured on the television, radio, and in classes throughout the United States on the subject of teen suicide. I certainly believed these personal experiences, coupled with educational training about grief, had taught me too well about grief and loss. However after losing a Dad, at age 71 to cancer three months ago, I have become acutely aware that grief is unique to each person dying, and each person mourning. Michael s death, sudden and unexpected, at a time in life when we just don t believe death will occur, gave me the wisdom and insight to understand how fragile life is, and that it could disappear on a moment s notice, without warning, without notice, without preparation, while my own life continued.

I came to understand that while I shared Mike s loss with others, my pain and sorrow were uniquely my own. For years I said “your own pain, is your own pain”. Others share it, but what happens inside of you, uniquely belongs to you. It was as if I understood something quite profound about life, and living, well before my chronological age. As a licensed clinical social worker, I have learned tips and tools for coping with grief, and have been well trained about grief and loss. I understand Elizabeth Kubler Ross s teachings about the stages of grief. I know that the stages are shock, denial, anger, depression, bargaining, and acceptance. I have learned they are common to all.

What I did not know until I faced my own personal loss is that they don t happen the same for everybody, they are not neat and orderly as outlined in the textbooks, and not everybody dying or grieving faces them in the same way. My father s death had to teach me that. Dad, age 71, diagnosed with cancer of an unknown primary, cancer of the brain, liver and lungs, died three months following his diagnosis. He elected no treatment, as there was no cure, and he didn t want to die. Dad divorced for over 30 years, surrounded by his five adult children, demonstrated bravery in facing his mortality, that moved beyond textbook explanation. His personal physician, family members and friends described it as remarkable, and extraordinary, and outside of the realm of “typical grief reactions”.

As his body wasted with each passing day, his alertness and bravery strengthened, and fortified, and mystified those around him. While currently grieving my father s passing, with his death fresh on my mind, I have learned that grief teaches us how to live with strength, and dignity, in the midst of pain and despair. I have gained greater wisdom in the complexity of human beings, that while each of us will face grief at some point in time, a solitary experience, we share in the universal messages that grief delivers. It s really about love, unique to each, common to all.

Making Your Visions Bigger
By Neel Raman

Would you ever settle for second best? Would you achieve a goal and then be perfectly happy to have reached it knowing that you could have gone so much further than you actually did?

Why would you impose limitations on yourself?

Being on a journey isn t only about the journey and the getting there. It s also about what you do when you reach the end of that journey and how you allow the changes you ve made in yourself to impact on your gift of imagination and vision, and affirm your determination to be the best that you can be. It’s about who you become as a person on that journey.

After all, if you reached your goal and then stayed there, what would be the incentive for anyone else to reach that goal? There would be nothing left to change, nothing more to learn, and nowhere else to explore.

That s the reason it s so important to give yourself the freedom to develop even further. To achieve a goal or to reach the end of one journey and then set yourself the challenge of taking it as far as you can go.

And each time you reach an objective you have that choice again, to set your sight on that horizon.

There is always another horizon. There is always a higher level of achievement.

And you can meet the challenge of aiming for that horizon and that higher goal by never restricting your imagination and vision or imposing limitations on yourself.

You are as free as a bird. You can soar as high as you want and you can fly as far ahead as you can see, because there will always be a space ahead of you to fly towards.

It takes courage. It means facing the fear that you might not be able to go any further, and still carrying on. It means pushing yourself to your limits, and even though it seems difficult at times. You know you can do it because you ve pushed yourself to the limit before and you broke through into a more rarefied air.

You need never settle for second best, because you know you can aim higher.

There is always clear air ahead of you. Allow yourself to have bigger visions.

The Synchronicity of Success
By Brett Krkosska

I love the idea of synchronicity.

Perhaps it s just part of my need for validation that the universe is orderly and consistent. It s empowering to think that every person, every animal, every plant, every particle of matter… it s all working in grand unison.

It s nice to know that among the 6 billion people on this planet I am no less important than the next soul. Whether they be enthroned or imprisoned, Christian or Muslim, perfumed or soiled, I have equal consideration in the universal mind. I am not only connected to my fellow human beings, I have a connection with the all of everything.

“Wow,” you say. “Synchronicity can do all that?”

“By the way, what the heck is it? And do I have to read L. Ron Hubbard to get it?”

Generally speaking, synchronicity can be explained as the appearance of seemingly coincidental events in our lives that go beyond mere chance. By recognizing and acting upon the appearance of these coincidences, a person can create a favorable outcome from any situation or goal. The psychiatrist Carl Jung maintained that an individual s connection to a collective unconscious was the unifying force in this process.

The process works whether you are seeking more success, more prosperity, more happiness, or geared to a more ordinary pursuit, such as finding a new dragonfly for your dragonfly collection.

The trick is to pay attention to the coincidences and act on the opportunities they present. It s quite easy to miss the signs if you re not tuned into the possibility.

How can you tune into synchronicity and let it work for you?

A good starting point is to recognize that physical matter of the universe does not exist in a void. We are living in a universe of interlaced, dynamic energy. It is this energy that animates matter into coordinated, attention-driven synchronicity.

Consider your thoughts. Any time you have a thought you are creating a focus of energy that goes out into the universe, intermingling and interacting with other energy processes. Because like energy is attracted to like energy, your intent directs synchronous energy in your direction.

Think about that! Your thoughts are not contained within the confines of your skull. Rather they are not unlike both a transmitter and receiver. By broadcasting your intent to the universe you are drawing all the energies which will further amplify and create your intent.

Could this explain why some people create lives of abundance and success, while others lament about the crappy hand life has dealt them?

You are what you think. Or, more accurately, you are what you believe yourself to be.

By accepting as fact your belief of who you truly are or what you will unfailingly achieve, then your future self effectively defines your present self. Successful people are successful before they become successful.

This happens instantly in the moment you define and announce your focused, unwavering intent. Success is automatic. And synchronicity plays a key role in obtaining your success.

Let me give you a startling example of how synchronicity unexpectedly paid me a visit. You may find my story hard to believe, or attributable to pure chance, but it is absolutely true. It is a simple account of events with a simple outcome, yet it speaks volumes about the shortest and surest path to success.

On a cold November night last year there was a house fire a few blocks from where I live. Tragically, a thirteen-year-old girl perished in the flames, unable to escape her room on the second story. In small towns such as mine tragedies like this cut deeply into the whole community.

Details of the attempted rescue of the girl further exacerbated a profound and overwhelming sadness in everyone. Naturally, the whole community wondered how this could happen, why it happened, and how to prevent another tragedy such as this from happening again.

It quickly came to light that the smoke alarms in the ill-fated home were not working. Because my own thirteen-year-old son s room is on the second floor of our home, my first reaction was to check the smoke alarms. Sure enough, the one upstairs had a dead battery. And wouldn t you know it, no batteries in the cabinet.

My overriding thought was to get a battery, get it today, and get it before the stores close. Hopefully, the battery supply in town wasn t depleted.

Out the door I go, determined to have a battery before nightfall. As I m walking around the rear of my vehicle something in the street catches my eye. I walk over for a closer inspection…

Yikes!

A chill goes up my spine and my skin crawls up tighter than William Shatner s fifth face lift.

It s a 9-volt battery! It looks brand spanking new!

Now, I m not saying the Lord sent a Battery Angel to drop this gift at my feet. I ve no doubt that battery arrived by way of very ordinary, everyday means.

But I am saying that my most urgent thought was to get batteries. I am saying that many in my community had the same thought. I am saying that I needed a battery and, coincidentally, I got one.

Perhaps we can call it dumb luck. The same dumb luck that created a star out of Paris Hilton.

Now here s the kicker. I did go to the store to replenish my battery supply and pick up a few other items. Guess what?

No batteries in stock.
